The duties of the office of the INS have been split up into three offices under the control of the Department of Homeland Security.

The CIS office was formed out of the INS office. The duties of the CIS include all of the paperwork related to immigration. The duties also include any paperwork related to the Naturalization of citizenship. The CIS office is not in charge of enforcing any immigration laws.
